Our Purpose
-
All that we are involved in, we do. In addition, MWT connects expertise across the fields of climate change, marine science, ocean health, and non-instrument navigation.
-
We seek to build capacity amongst Māori communities, rangatahi and pakeke, whānau, hapū and iwi, scientists and practitioners, and students through our programmes.
-
We aim to enhance marine and land related research programmes and increase opportunities for rangatahi and whānau to benefit from the interaction between mātauranga Māori and scientific disciplines.
Research
Research into ancestral ocean voyaging
The voyages of Māori and Polynesian ancestors across vast oceans were “at the cutting edge of knowledge”.
